Conservation Trust Run

A small bunch of us met as planned at ‘Flames’ car park – The trip to Ocean Beach was memorable, Mcleods Bay was picture perfect, a full tide with all the boats fully mirrored in the flat calm water. Our destination, a dappled sunlit carpark complete with picnic tables and shady trees. We were met there by the Head Ranger Tom, of the Bream Head Conservation Trust, he gave a great talk on their work of predator control and regeneration work with their Native Plant Nursery. He demonstrated the use of a selection of traps, some quite vicious! But humane. The work the Trust is doing is amazing. We thanked him for his generous time and gave him a donation from the Club. We then trecked the long way back to the carpark, (100 meters) and a feed of vittles to satisfy the inner Man. Another jaunt was then taken to the wild surf of Ocean Beach to cleanse our ‘soles’ of mind and feet before heading home via The Deck Cafe for an “ICE CREAM”. One person who shall remain nameless, had eyes bigger than his belly. An Ice cream, so big he was falling off it. After messing his clothes with the runny bits and being given lots of advice, none of it very helpful, we headed home. A great day with a very nice bunch of people. One of the group did have a brief swim, thanks to Photoshop!
