Kerikeri Saturday Market and Bluebell Woods Visit
Everyone met at Springs Flat lay-by – 9 cars, many happy people and three
grandchildren. We left at 9.15. Unfortunately Brian and Raewyn Canons arrived at
9.16 to an empty car park but caught up with us later.
The Kerikeri Saturday Market was frenetic – stacks of people, our bunch dispersed to
do their own thing. Sheila and I and a few others left fairly soon. There was rain
forecast for later and we were determined to have our picnic in the bluebells before it
came!
We arrived and the weather was still great. Margie and Graham Galland were
already happily picnicking and soon Brian and Raewyn Canons joined us. A bit later
Mike and Linda Franks and their three grandchildren arrived. We enjoyed our lunch
but soon, just like the forecast, the rain arrived and we high-tailed it back to the cars.
Just as we drove off some of the other guys were just arriving.
Sheila and I stopped for coffee on the way home and encountered the heaviest
downpour I have ever experienced! Had to slow right down, wipers going frantic.
Nevertheless – a great day.
