Waipu Classic Car Show

Believed to be on 800 cars and a couple of hundred motorcycles on display. Lots of food stalls and the usual mussel fritters served up to the public by the Waipu Lions. We even had Elvis put in an appearance and he entertained the huge crowd with many of the old favorites. Here the members of the club took refuge from the heat to have their lunch and enjoy a catch up with fellow members.

Born in Hastings the late 1940’s, Stephen Beattie has been interested in car design since seeing a Lotus 11 in his youth at the Levin motor races. The sleekness of the design made such an impression on Beattie that it became an influence in his cars, particularly the Beattie SR2000 and Clubman Sports
